Showdown at The Big Slick Brooklyn Casino
A highly anticipated battle of talented Texas Hold-Em aficionados transpired last night in what will always be remembered to the fallen as a good old fashioned ass kicking.
The DDPT crew arrived at the tournament room early, eagerly anticipating a night of dominance and victory with dollar signs in their eyes. Only problem is The North Jersey Grinders came ready to play!
First tournament starts with 11 seated. Last man standing is Dominic, also known to associates as Don Corleone. Don grinds out all opponents in a relaxed somewhat nonchalant fashion to put the Grinders up 1-0.
Second tournament begins with a record 12 seated and it is quite apparent that David is having his way with the field when he knocks the lights out of Richey (who was quite lit) and yours truly with Cowboys against Richey's Ace, and my Big Slick. David goes on to capture first place, again showing The DDPT crew what it means to be Grinded out by The North Jersey Grinders.
In the meantime I sit down to a side game and proceed to go on a savage assault to complete the third chapter of destruction of The DDPT crew. I end the slaughter after coming out the cash game winner giving the Grinders a night of dominance over The DDPT crew.
In conclusion a good time was had by all, but some questions remain. Can The Grinders continue their superior style of play and clean up The Dirty Ones? Only time will tell. Oh, BTW DDPT if you want to borrow Super System 2, just ask!!

"You have started something. You know the anyone can win a tournament regardless of level of play. What I looked for is talent and only saw it in two players that wasn't DDPT. Let's see how well you fair when you have to come on our home court. I don't need your book. All I need to do is sit to the left of you and your done. BTW +$70 for the night for THE GOAT. I'll take that any day on foreign land."

"as Noryuki "Pat" Morita says in "The Karate Kid": "YOU BEGINNER LUCK!" we're glad to see the northeast
grinders taking us seriously. now all the DDPT has to do is start seeing you guys as something more than
just pocket change.... :P"

"DDPTers:
Thanks Goat for setting Frank 'All-IN' C straight. If you read his blog, you know he is under the mistaken impression that DDPT got squashed fri night. No harm no foul...mind you. But the quality of play from the N. Jersey Grinders didn't put fear into the heart of any DDPT player that I heard from. The word out on the street was...these are beginners. We expected as much...and got what we expected.
Nonetheless, the luck factor made a difference...a big difference this weekend. We ain't sweating it though...cause luck evens out over time.

Luck is always a factor, but even a beginner knows that you have to know when to hold em, know when to walk away, know when to run.
As a beginner, I didnt feel that the room was full of "experienced players" I guess the lack of intimidation helped me channel my victory through the force. Yoda has been great to me.
Maybe I should practice more, perhaps Ill start to "even out" as stated by the truth.
Contrary to popular belief, and sayings of those who lost to a beginner, NOT anyone can win a tournament. You can only win if you know how to think. Guess I'm not "The Goat" of the Grinders association.
p.s.- What is DDPT?
Thanks for hosting Frank, had a great time. Look forward to the next game. I am learning the ways of the force. Soon I will not even need my cheat card to tell me what beats what?
p.s.- Funny that you made a play by play. Are we going to be on ESPN next time?

Hey Frank, I do not know what poker game you were watching. A dominating performance is when you sweep all places 1 through 3rd. I admit I deposit my money in the first tournament and broke even in the subsequent cash game. DDPT still took second in the main event. As far as the nigh cap, DDPT scored second and third. I believe your dominating performance in the cash game was mostly over your own Grinders since they did not last that long in the second main event.
